Stuff + Connections of the Heart: Chapter 2

Finally went back up to pick up the thing that Alex had ordered (that was supposedly delivered to the store last Monday, but wasn't there when we went up.) At least this time they did have it, ha. (Though with his name on the box, and mine on the order form. Eyeroll.)

Got the dog all legalized! We had gotten a slightly stern postcard in the mail about the fact his county license had lapsed. So we went to the shelter and renewed it. Though despite it being a renewal, he got a new tag with a new license number, which seemed a bit odd. Not that it matters, lol.

And I posted chapter two of my Unconventional Courtship fic! Lol, finally. A few days late from my soft goal, but it's up!

In order to buy a political alliance that could get her officially crowned, Princess Kairi has to bring a partner on a diplomatic mission. Her fiancé, Sora, doesn't care for the spotlight, and is terrified of messing the opportunity up for her. So they enlist their best friend, Riku, who is much more suited to the social expectations of a future royal consort. While the three agree to rules intended to protect their relationships to each other, mutual attraction and affection are difficult to turn off. And it isn't long before the stakes for the diplomatic mission itself grow higher as well.
The fic was started for the Unconventional Courtship challenge, where you write a fic based on a romance novel summary. This one is based off the summary of the Mills&Boon novel "Wife for a Week" by Kelly Hunter.

I will probably not be able to quite get the last chapter of Step Right Up second-drafted and posted by tomorrow (which was my goal with it), but never say never. I'll aim for a burst of productivity tonight, and maybe some work on it earlier tomorrow.

We were planning to go to the zoo tomorrow, enjoying some of the last nice weather before *shudder* possible snow, but Alex is feeling sick tonight. I know that The Crud (non-covid) is going around right now - it's what my work friend had all last week, after her nephews brought it home, and we've had some students call out sick with it. I hope he doesn't have The Current Crud, because it seems miserable.

That is strange about the new tag. Unless they'd somehow canceled the old number?

Me too! I would have been *extremely* unhappy if we'd driven up there for nothing again, haha. But serious side-eye for sending out the "ready for pickup!" messages before it's arrived, ugh.

That did seem strange to me. It doesn't really matter, as long as it has all his info attached to the number, but I'd sort of assumed it would stay the same? (If we'd opted for the mail-in renewal, would they have sent a new tag? WHO KNOWS.)

Unfortunately, it seems to be full-fledged crud. But the weather got a bit cool and rainy, so probably wouldn't have been the best day to go do anything, anyway!

That's interesting - it's the towns that do the dog licenses here. I've actually never looked, but I assumed it was a new number each year since they send me a new tag.

It's interesting how differently things like that are handled in different areas. I guess getting a new number may be the norm, then! I just hope they have his records connected enough that they don't keep trying to tell me about the previously-lapsed one, and know that it's been replaced by a new number.
