Hi there!
Welcome to my journal!
Mostly this journal is a hybrid of personal, fandom, and writing posts.
I share a lot of little day-to-day things, griping about work or things like that.
Especially over the warmer months, I try to share a fair number of pictures taken when I go do interesting things or visit pretty places. While I'm not *great* about consistent tagging, the "hiking" or "doing things" tags will probably give you a sampling of those sorts of posts. Those are probably the most interesting posts of mine!
Probably the most constant thing that comes up in my journal is me posting about writing. I'm not an amazingly prolific writer, but it's definitely what I enjoy!
Unsurprisingly, my primary fannish activity is writing fanfiction. You can find a directory of my fic here.
For the last couple years, I've pretty exclusively written Kingdom Hearts AUs focusing on the Destiny Trio/SoRiKai OT3. (Despite having not played a KH game in a good decade or so, and not having the systems for any of the newer ones.) As of late 2022 I've started drifting slightly away from the KH fandom as a whole, though I don't think I'll ever completely lose my love for my beloved OT3.
The other fandom I've most recently written for for is Silent Hill, which I recognize is a bit of a 180.
Other fandoms that I'm more of a lurker in include: Good Omens, Zero Escape (999/Virtue's Last Reward/Zero Time Dilemma), Leverage [need to watch Redemption...], Captive Prince, The Witcher [mainly for the Netflix version, though I, uh, haven't watched it, so much as just followed some talented writers], Newsflesh, other Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant series, Yuri on Ice, Murderbot, and I'm sure plenty of others I'm just failing to remember at the moment!
I'm sort of questing for my next fandom obsession, ha.
I do also watch a lot of horror movies, haha. Good horror is great, and bad horror is hilarious, so it tends to be win/win to pick some mediocre streaming offerings.
Relatively few of my posts are locked currently. I'm always happy to make friends on DW - while it will probably never have the critical mass of LJ "back in the day", it's my favorite social-media-adjacent site. Feel free to add me or comment to say hi!

Hello!
I do the same. See my Photography tag for a tour of my Midwest yard. It's kind of a permaculture jungle, by which I mean it has all the layers of a rainforest, just shorter.
>>Probably the most constant thing that comes up in my journal is me posting about writing. I'm not an amazingly prolific writer, but it's definitely what I enjoy!<<
I post a LOT of writing, most original, some fanfic. I invite you to drop by my blog on Tuesday, January 4 for the Poetry Fishbowl with a theme of "short forms." Leave prompts, get poems!
>> Other fandoms that I'm more of a lurker in: Good Omens <<
I like that one too.
>>While I wouldn't say it quite counts as something fannish, I do also watch a lot of horror movies, haha. Good horror is great, and bad horror is hilarious, so it tends to be win/win to pick some mediocre streaming offerings.<<
I have a couple of series with horror motifs but not mood, and some other things that are actually horrifying. Most of my fans aren't into darkfic so those series are largely neglected, but the gothic fluff is quite popular. You might like Frankenstein's Family. If you see "WARNING" or "WARN ALL THE THINGS" in red letters, think before reading.
Re: Hello!
(And I extra love your pictures of your visiting tree frogs! Any time I see frogs they wind up the highlight of my day, pretty much.)
Thanks for the recs! I'll definitely check out some of your stuff!
Re: Hello!
Thank you!
>> That's absolutely the kind of yard I someday hope to have - a little wild, a little garden, lots of stuff to attract pollinators and other wildlife! <<
Look for resources on food forests, permaculture, and wildlife. Bear in mind that it takes a few years to get going, but once it does, nature will take over and you'll find things sprouting that you didn't plant. Elderberry, cup plant, and wild grapes are among my freefound items.
I have a honeybee tree. They've appeared several times before in a different tree, half of which fell down this summer. So it's a good thing they chose a different tree this time. I'm pleased because the previous one was ~20 feet from the house, while this one is bordering the prairie garden and well out of the way. \o/

Me too, I always give a little squee when I see them. I hope they stick around. I think they were coming to the house so much because of the porch lights making a good place to hunt bugs. I saw a few in other places too.

Yay!
Re: Hello!
But hooray for honeybees! I've also considered possibly trying to keep a hive in the future. (Also in the childhood house, we had a hive of honeybees living in the wall of my parents' bedroom for a time. Not completely ideal, but they were happy there, haha.)
Re: Hello!
Keep an eye out for opportunities like a community garden or <a href="https://www.shareable.net/community-gardening-and-yard-sharing/>yardsharing</a>. >> The yard when I was a kid was similar, and it's fantastic when things you didn't plant start showing up! (Black raspberries were my favorite that showed up, probably shared by a bird.) << Yeah, I have black raspberries all over. Some are from my grandparents' stock, some from birds. I did actually plant some, but those don't do well. *shrug* Landrace black raspberries it is. The blackberries have done a bit better though. I still haven't found wild ones of those. >> But hooray for honeybees! I've also considered possibly trying to keep a hive in the future.<< Good idea. They need all the help they can get. >> (Also in the childhood house, we had a hive of honeybees living in the wall of my parents' bedroom for a time. Not completely ideal, but they were happy there, haha.) << 0_o You win.
Re: Hello!
My mom was (and is) an active gardener, so she didn't mind the bees in the wall, lol. Our fruit trees were always nicely productive! We even got to watch them swarm a few times, so it was a pretty happy hive. Though I'd love to have one that... didn't sometimes send honey dripping down our basement wall, lol.

Thank you! I'll probably tweak it a bit down the line, but it does the job!
And hooray! I'm glad we've got at least a few fandoms of common interest! :D

I post quite a lot of pictures of the dogs and flowers, haha. Also bugs once we have more interesting ones out again, lol.

Most of my entries are not public, but I've added as a friend so you should be able to see them. :)

I do miss ye olde LJ days. I know DW isn't likely to ever be quite the same, I do really enjoy the longer-form journaling space.
