Summary:
Settling into his new home on Destiny Islands isn't going quite as smoothly as Riku might have hoped. It's hard enough for a vampire to establish themselves in a new territory, even under the best of circumstances. Harder, when he discovers that apparently the islands have their own pair of monster hunters. Not to mention that the unknown creature in the shadows seems like an increasingly dangerous threat, especially as more and more humans disappear without a trace. When the disappearances turn to bodies with bite marks deliberately framing Riku for the killings, it seems like any hope of a peaceful existence in his new home is beyond his reach.

In Chapter 2: Continuing to investigate the disappearances on the islands, Sora and Kairi meet up with Riku again (and then again.) Riku gets the chance to meet another cryptid on the island.

A... seven-month hiatus on this one, heh. I accepted that risk when I decided to focus on one fic at a time, so finishing Connections of the Heart delayed this one further. But that's okay, because now this one is nearly done! If all goes as planned, the final two chapters should be up the next two weeks!

(My hope had been to have Chapter 3's second draft completed by today, so that I'd be one completed chapter ahead of what I was posting. Unfortunately, last week derailed me hard, so I'm not as far ahead as hoped. But I'm going for posting "on schedule" over delaying, which I hope I don't regret!)
