Sick dog...
Today is definitely an early-to-bed night.
Got to bed late last night - stuff kept coming up, but I really wanted to read some, so I didn't get to bed until around 1:30.
...And then woke up around 4:45 because I could hear Bella in the kitchen, which is weird, because she never really gets up in the middle of the night.
So I got up, and found her cowering by the front door. (Why cowering? No idea. I'm guessing just because she felt sick.)
Checking further, discovered that yes, she did in fact have explosive diarrhea in the kennel, all over her bed. Took her outside, though she didn't have any more to do. Then spent almost an hour cleaning out the kennel and her bed. Just leaving it to sit there was obviously not an option, but cleaning up extra gross literal-shit is absolutely not how I wanted to spend my night. (Mostly I know it's a good thing that I'm such a light sleeper, because things like that DO wake me, but sometimes I wish I could just sleep on through it like Alex does.)
Never got back to sleep, because every time I heard her move I was worried there was going to be More.
Later this morning, Alex said her poo had solidified, but had the extremely-worrying "coffee ground" look that usually means there's upper GI bleeding. Following vet advice, we did 12 hours with no food, and now just gave her a tiny piece of chicken and some pumpkin. She also got some pepcid, which is dog-safe and can help with stomach upset. We'll see how that treats her.
She was different-sick while I was at mom and Taylor's early in the week - she apparently had a pretty impressive excorcist-style vomit of everything in her, and was lethargic for a day and a half. Then she was fine, up until yesterday having some minor diarrhea early in the day and then the much worse overnight and today. Hopefully the possible bleeding is just irritation because of having been sick. We'll see how it goes from here.
So my three hoursish of sleep was not enough. At all.
Class tomorrow, and not looking forward to it. Still behind on most of the things I need and want to do, but it sure isn't happening tonight!
