On Sunday, Alex took Bella to her first FastCAT competition. (CAT stands for Coursing Ability Test, not anything to do with cats, lol.) It's basically having your dog run as fast as possible for 100 yards. Since Bella loves running and chasing, it seemed like something she'd enjoy doing.

She... was not very good at it, lol. Sounds like she was mostly just distracted, in part because they had a technical difficulty right at the start of her first run, which delayed her for a few minutes, and by the time she could go, she was more excited to play with the person who was releasing her at the start line. (Alex was at the finish line.)


But she got participation ribbons, lol. (Picture from Alex.)


Bella continues to enjoy wildlife rehab shows. She was very charmed by a seal! (And Cy as a pillow.)


Summer "Berry Mad" Refresher, having had a nice caterpillar from my mom's garden. She is quite round.


I wanted a picture of Cy with his current favorite toy (a crinkly rainbow bagel). The way he was gnawing on it made his head look weirdly shaped, lol.


Here he is, looking a bit more proportional, laying on the bed.

The most important thing is having fun, haha.

The toad is so round! I'm told I should stop by and pick up more caterpillars from my mom's petunias, so she'll be delighted for more snacks, haha.

Bella doesn't care about competition. Just play! JUST PLAY. But participation ribbons are good, too! I love her watching TV with her brother as a pillow - that's so fucking cute.

Play forever! She *can* run very fast, so I hope we can figure out how to get her to do it at the event, but of course I'm glad as long as she's having a good time of it.
And yes, her watching TV is always cute. Cy being a tolerant pillow is a bonus!

Oh yes - she may look mad, but I'm pretty sure she's Berry Happy about living in the place where food magically rains from the sky periodically, haha.

Play forever! Of course her having fun is the most important part, but I hope that with a few more of these she'll figure out the whole "run" part, haha. (She went to one before, but they just observed rather than entering, and she wanted to chase the lure when *other* dogs were doing runs, haha.)

Cy is doing pretty well. *Knock wood* but he's not had any really rough days for a while. He's stiff and a bit slow, but hasn't had any days where he struggles to stand or walk.

He's still taking gabapentin, so he has his own px from the vet. If you've got extra you're trying to pawn off, it'd certainly get used, but he's not in dire straights or anything; I know the vet offered us refills.
