Sunday, March 23rd: FastCAT

Back on Sunday, right after Alex got back from Kansas, he took Bella to another FastCAT competition. I wish they weren't always on weekends - I'd rather be doing that than work!




Second run was a new personal best! (I do not know why they're labeled 3 and 4; it's a max of two per day.)


And then she took a nap.

Alex bought a few prints from the photographer at her previous FastCAT at the end of February:

Such flattering pictures! She looks like she's having a great time at whatever a FastCAT is. I shall have to google.

She did get some very photogenic pictures that time!

FastCAT is "Fast Coursing Ability Test", an AKC (American Kennel Club) event. Dogs run 100 yards after a lure (generally a plastic bag on a string) and see how fast they can go, haha.

Very low barrier to entry, since it's mostly just taking advantage of the "chase the thing" instinct, but Bella has really started to enjoy it! Her first couple events were not very successful, with her taking a full 30 seconds or more to make it down the course. After a few tries she really seemed to "get it," and has had a great time.

Dogs accumulate points toward titles in the sport. It's not ~high prestige~ or anything, but it's a lot of fun.

She really does seem to enjoy it! (And always seems so disappointed when she can't run more than twice. She watches all the other dogs go, and gets so excited again.)
