Today was weirdly tiring. I think it's just because work was busy. The phones were already ringing with multiple calls when I got in, despite me being in five minutes before we were even open.

Nothing that happened was really bad or anything, just hectic. I even still got everything done, so it was reasonably productive. I just never had time to breathe. And had someone walk in ten minutes after close, so I wound up being in almost thirty minutes late leaving. *sigh*

I bought myself a new (off-brand) PS3 controller, which arrived today. I know, being on PS3 is basically ANCIENT, but it's what I've got.

Taylor got me a copy of Silent Hill: Homecoming for Christmas. Even if it has been out for a decade, I haven't played it, and despite the kind of 'meh' reaction to a lot of the plot, I dig the soundtrack and listen to that a lot. But I started playing it, and was having a terrible time of it. I just kept wildly fucking up which buttons I was hitting, using up healing items when I didn't want to, opening menus like crazy... It was frustrating, because while I don't play all that often, I'm not usually that bad.

No, I'm not that bad. I'm guessing the button sensitivity for the game is just higher than for the other stuff I've played lately, because it was NOT just me being out of practice. Pressing any of the buttons with any real force presses several of the buttons near it. Squeezing the solid plastic of the base of the controller opens menus. Shaking or tilting the controller in any way opens the menus and scrolls through options. (I demonstrated this for Alex, to prove it wasn't just me, haha.)

Our poor controller has had rattly bits inside it for quite some time after a few too many tumbles to the floor, and it creaks in a somewhat worrisome way when you hold it too tightly, and sometimes it does just... do things at random. But this was frankly ridiculous.

I'm hoping that the new controller makes the game playable, even if I'm still probably not very good at it, lol.

(Though I started to replay Bioshock while waiting for the controller, so maybe I'll finish that again first.)
