Writing in progress...
Sep. 16th, 2021 08:34 pmSO glad that I've got this weekend off. It's my last longer-than-a-weekend break for who knows how long, though maybe I'll be able to do some more three-day weekends when we get farther into the fall.
Model show with Alex up in WY (Why-oming) on Saturday. Same show host as the last one we went to, so it should be fairly fun.
Taylor's birthday on Sunday, so I'll hang out with them that day, and probably stay at least through most of Monday, or maybe even into Tuesday.

Writer's block stuff seems to be improving. I still haven't gotten much written - though I've managed to scrape out 100 words for the last couple nights.
Stuff in progress or that I'm planning to work on soon:
- Connections of the Heart - this is that fic that I started for Unconventional Courtship, and have now been struggling with writer's block on. One chapter has been posted, and I *think* I hit the halfway point at the end of chapter 3. I feel like I kind of know where it's going, I'm just not destined to be wildly in love with it, ha.
- Step Right Up - Mermaid AU. Two chapters posted, the third and final chapter just needs a quick rewrite/editing pass, and then could be posted. I was holding off until I'd gotten a bit more of CotH done, but should probably just get it posted, lol.
- Island Territory - During AUgust last year, I wrote a vampire oneshot and a monster hunter oneshot that overlapped with each other. The story itself was definitely set up to continue, and I've had ideas for it on and off. Hoping maybe to time it for posting in October, since that seems like a fitting time for vampire fic.
- Professional Interest - kind of a weird little AU, also from AUgust. I intended at the time to write a third part, but sort of lost momentum on it. But then someone commented on it a couple months ago, saying they'd reread it and hoped there'd be more... and that's kind of motivating, haha.
- All Strange Wonders - I'm still sitting on this fic, sobcry. I think I'm holding it out ahead of myself as a reward for getting other stuff done, ha. Its second draft is done, so other than quick edits, it's ready for posting.
- Outbreak - That Silent Hill fic that revolves around a terrible, mysterious illness in the town. This one was written years ago, and then after Covid I wasn't sure I should share it. Last time I mentioned it, a few people pointed out that fiction can be a valuable lens for dealing with bit shit like living through a global pandemic, so it may be something that wouldn't be in poor taste to share after all.
- Documentary - a fake title for another Silent Hill fic that followed a more typical "people stuck in the increasingly creepy town" plotline, but one I still think would be fun to write.
- The Sun, The Moon, The Stars - a fic that in various drafts has had more than 100k written on it, lol. Fairytale world-hopping. This fic is probably my biggest source of "idea debt", as I've worked on it on and off for... 12 years, looking at the creation dates on some of the files. But lol, I just don't want to give up on it entirely.
All of the above said, I STILL want to find a new fandom, lol.
None of that includes original stuff, which I've felt generally less inspired to work on lately. Not that I don't want to write any of the ideas I have, but I'm not sure what to do with them if I DO. I'm really not terribly interested in dealing with publishing. The idea of querying and such sounds like hell to me, and not something I care to do. Self-publishing is also something well outside of my skillset. (I'm also well aware that I'm not really writing things that suit most publishing. I like tropes that are just to the side of what's popular, so aren't likely to appeal to very many of the people who buy a lot of self-pub stuff.)
But at the same time, I don't really want to write stuff that I never share with anyone else. So I'm not sure what to do. There's not really a great site that I know of for sharing original works. (Wattpad exists, and I hate everything I hear about it, lol.) But idk. I'll keep poking at things on and off, and see if anything gets really finished, and then I'll figure out what to do with it, lol.
All of that to procrastinate on actually writing anything. :)
