Long day was long (as predicted)
Sep. 18th, 2021 09:43 pmWe got out of here by about 6:15, which wasn't too bad. Got coffee. Made decent time, and rolled into the show hall parking lot a few minutes after 8. Even so, we were close to the last ones there, lol.
Setup was a struggle (as it usually is). Too much stuff, too little space, time pressure...
Model shows are hectic, with several different classes showing simultaneously. Alex also judged one division in the morning, though a small one. After lunch was even worse, because there were four divisions running simultaneously, and Alex was showing in all of them, ha.
Did pretty well, though. Got firsts or seconds in a lot of classes, and two section champions plus one section reserve. One of those section champions went on to be its division champion, and the section reserve got the "judge's choice" (basically third place, lol) award for the biggest division out of the show.
That... probably sounds jargony as hell, and I doubt anyone needs the details of model horse showing, lmao. But it was good - he won pretty ribbons and a fancy rosette, lol.
Wound up getting out of the show hall and back on the road shortly after 7:00, which means it was an 11 hour show day, not counting travel time. Got back into town closer to 9:00, where we hit a grocery store for a frozen pizza because yeah, not interested in real cooking, lol. Finally got the truck unloaded by 9:40. So... only a... 14ish hour day.
I'm tired as hell and everything hurts. I am looking forward to cramming pizza into my face, and then going the fuck to sleep. (Tomorrow is probably not going to be much of a catch-up day, but we'll see.)
