Spring Fever
Mar. 7th, 2021 07:48 pmToday was not as kick-ass as yesterday, but was still pretty decent for my brain.
The slightly longer days (getting off of work when there's still light in the sky!) and the warmer weather (having had the door open, and walking outside in the sun a few times in the last week!) have definitely given me the restlessly energetic "spring fever" feeling, though. It's kind of a good/bad thing, because sometimes I *can* turn it into productivity, but other times I just feel like I want to go DO... something. Don't know what, but I want to go do it, lol. Though even the restless, directionless feeling is a mostly positive one, at least.
The feeling may not last out the week, since it's supposed to rain and maybe snow after the next couple days. (First day of cruddier weather supposed to hit on my day off, which is also my birthday, naturally.)
I did manage to get a little bit of writing for All Strange Wonders, though I haven't finished my reread. (Can't really do the reading part at work, though I can sneak in some writing here and there.) So far my biggest structural thing that I want to change is some pacing - it feels like things happen a little too quickly toward the beginning. That's not totally bad, because I do think it saves it from boring stretches. But at the same time, I want there to be a little bit more of a sense of time passing, and I'd rather not rely on a throwaway line like "several weeks passed in a blur" or the like. The bit I wrote is something that can hopefully work in to pad out the passage of time a bit, though we'll see how it winds up going. I'm about 1/4 of the way through the reread, I think, and going to tackle some more of that next.
