Today was a long day, and I am TIRED.
We went out early so Alex could do physical therapy, and I had to swing by the pet store to get crickets for Broccoli Cheddar Bomb. I asked for 10 small crickets, and the employee dumped some into the bag... then shrugged and said "10ish". I didn't look until after she'd rung me up... but I'm not even kidding, I think it's closer to 70 crickets.
I'm going to have to get the extra critter keeper and cricket food from my mom after all, ha.
But we went to the zoo today!
They do entry at ticketed times only, so we weren't able to go until afternoon. I bought us a membership. If we go more than one additional time, it will have paid for itself, and I do genuinely believe in the conservation work the Denver Zoo supports. So it was slightly spendy, but it'll be nice to have at least one thing that we can just... go do whenever we want, without worrying about whether we have money for it. And it's a place to go walk that's more exciting than a city park, if we don't feel up to a full hike.
We skipped over a few bits, because we were afraid that one of the buildings we wanted to go to would close early. It didn't close early, turned out, but Tropical Discovery (where most of the reptiles and amphibians, plus fish, and the bats are) is my favorite part, and we still wound up staying in there until it was getting close to close.
But hey, we can go back whenever we want, and can catch the stuff we missed!
I did take a bunch of pictures, but I'll have to look through them later.
I wrote over 1000 words today... but it was on starting that damn River of Teeth writeup, so I'm going to see if I can claw out another 1000 on All Strange Wonders (or maybe I'll just aim for 500.)
I've definitely got a headache, and a sunburn, and am tired after all the walking. If we do go back pretty often, I'll hopefully help build my endurance back up!
