Too many potential writing projects...
May. 8th, 2021 07:54 pmI need to make some decisions about whether I still want to do the writing challenges/events that I was thinking about for this month. It's all no pressure, because I didn't officially enter any of them (yet), and instead they've just been sitting open in tabs on my browser. But I was thinking about a couple, because they weren't closing until June, so that was loads of time... and suddenly that isn't loads of time anymore. (Maybe especially if I also want to get ASW done by the end of the month.)
Possible projects to complete by end of month:
- All Strange Wonders, my current WIP. It'll probably be between 70-75k once it's done, and I'm just under 3/4 of the way done. There's no deadline for this, but I was tentatively aiming to have the rough draft done by the end of May.

whatif_au's "Triple Threat Challenge". A challenge to use three of the community's previous AU prompts in one fic. This doesn't technically have a deadline, as they'll accept submissions at any time, but the next prompt round starts in June, so ideally I'd have this one done by the end of the month.
-unconventionalcourtship A fic challenge to write a fic based on a Harlequin/Mills&Boon romance novel summary. The wordcount minimum is only 1000 words, but how often do I keep anything that short? Signups don't close until June 14th, although posting starts June 1st.
- Mermay. No challenge connected to this one, but I have an unused AU-of-my-own-mermaid-AU idea that I've been thinking about since last summer, and with the whole "MerMay" thing, it seems like the time to write it.
I don't have any ideas for Triple Threat or Unconventional Courtship yet. So then I have to decide if I want to branch out, or stick with the one ship I write, ha. TBH, I'm likely to stick with my usual OT3. Not that I don't HAVE other ships, but almost everything else would require a refresher on canon, while I've just made peace with throwing canon out the window for Kingdom Hearts. *shrug* But rewatching a show or rereading a book would just add another step.
Tonight is not the night I try to get ahead of it. I've been struggling with my attention span all day, and am practically nodding off over my keyboard already. Going to try very hard to scrape out another 500 words on ASW so I don't lose momentum totally, but then I think I'm going to call it an early night.
