Upcoming busyness...
Jun. 21st, 2021 07:30 pmNext weekend (both "real" and "mine") are going to be ridiculously busy. (Uh, by my standards at least, and especially after a year of pandemic.)
I'm taking Saturday off of work to go to a model horse show (in Wyoming) with Alex. (If you remember back in February, when I did the National Model Painting Month, this is the same hobby, lol.) Basically, collectable model horses, being shown sort of like they're real. Looking at the details of a sculpture, and trying to match it up with a realistic breed for the conformation and color, then also looking at quality of paint job and such. Then putting them up in a show ring to compete against everyone else's plastic ponies of the same assigned "breeds" to see whose is the best.
Objectively it is a very silly hobby to try and explain, but tbh not that much sillier than a lot of hobbies out there.
Sunday I'm back to work, though that night is a club event we're planning to go to. Never been to the specific club before (the night had just started before Covid hit) but it sort of replaces the old Sunday goth night after the original venue kicked the night.
(Which also makes me feel old. I remember that original venue - which is a decommissioned [or whatever it's called to deactivate/desanctify it] church - advertising the "SIN Sunday" goth night on the radio in the middle of the night! When I was in middle/high school I remember thinking how much I wished I could go to something like that, but figured I'd always be too shy to. And then once Alex moved out here, we went pretty often, ha.)
Anyway, the new night is at a different club, but next Sunday is their "rainbow goth" party, which is a goth night but also a Pride night. Pretty sure I don't fit into most of my club clothes, but I can put together something wearable. Need to pre-purchase tickets, though.
But Friday is Taylor's last day at the Shitty Job they quit, and I promised we'd get together to celebrate that, too.
So they want to get together on Monday into Tuesday, when I'll be off work. And Monday they want to go on a hike. So... better make sure I'm not hungover, lmao. And not dead on my feet from a wildly long and physical day on Saturday plus a late night on Sunday.
I'm mildly overwhelmed thinking about it, especially after a year of not doing much of anything. This is sort of my "return to normal" weekend, I guess. I just wish I had the energy of being 20 to help me handle it, lol.
