October Writing Plan
Oct. 3rd, 2021 06:59 pmLast night I finished the first draft of Chapter 4 of Connections of the Heart, which has taken way longer than I wanted it to. But I still hope there are just two more chapters after that.
Today, during a slow point at work, I put together a tentative plan for what I'd like to do in terms of writing/writing-adjacent stuff this month. I have a feeling that I was being overly ambitious and optimistic during bright morning hours, haha.
- Write the second draft of CotH Chapter 2. I had planned on finishing the first draft of the whole thing before I started on the second draft of any of it... but I also REALLY want to feel like I'm making some progress on it and feel like I can maybe work on something different for a while. Getting another section of it ready to post might help.
- Post Chapter 2 of CotH. I hope to have it ready to go by the end of this week, though it might depend on how much rewriting it requires... which is probably a lot
- Write the second draft of Step Right Up Chapter 3. I don't think there's much rewriting it needs; mostly just an editing pass. Then this fic will be complete!
- Post Chapter 3 of Step Right Up, hopefully by the end of my weekend next week (so by 10/12.) After that I should also share it to the What If AU comm here, since I originally wrote it for one of their challenges, and then chickened out of sharing it because it wasn't complete.
* I may also share it to that SoRiKai discord server I'm in... but idk, the last time I actually tried to catch up on the server was MONTHS ago, and a super anti rant about another ship in the fandom left me feeling really meh about the server, and I've kind of ignored it since. But it was my only real connection to the fandom I create content for, and I miss that aspect of it. But it also seems kind of tacky to only show up to promote my own shit, so... undecided.
- I'd like to make a sort of moodboard/cover for Connections of the Heart. They're fun to make, and they give me something to share along with a link if I choose to share it somewhere. It's probably pushing it, though, to get that done by the time I plan to post chapter 2, in which case it can probably get put off for quite a while, since chapter 3 won't be ready to go until way later.
- Outline Island Territory, the Vampire/Monster Hunter AU that I want to continue. This is what I'd really like to work on for October, because it at least feels Halloween-adjacent, haha
- Start writing that continuation, once it's outlined. Maybe get enough done to post a chapter of it in honor of spooky season. Maybe by 10/19, if possible?
- Make a moodboard/cover for Island Territory?
- Make a moodboard/cover for my Halloween fic from last year, so that I can share a link to that fic here for Halloween. (10/30?)
But I also have to start planning for NaNoWriMo. I have a few different ideas that I could try to work on, but I think I've decided on trying to write a poly werewolf romance I've had an idea for for a while. Because what is NaNo for if not self-indulgence, lmao. So I'd ALSO like to get that outlined this month, too. Maybe between 10/19 and 10/30, per my "calendar" above?
So yeah, that seems... a *little* overambitious, seeing it laid out like that. Mid-morning-bored-at-work me was strangely motivated, apparently. But it still seems... kind of doable? I suppose we'll see!
