Oct. 16th, 2021 08:13 pmToday we had a driver call out at 7:30 for her 8:00 drive... by leaving a message on the office phone... that no one (me) would be in to check until 9:00. So THAT was a good start to the day. Especially since the 8:00 drive had just been rescheduled from Thursday when a different driver called out sick.
(Also, no one seems to be sick with the same thing, so it's not even like there's a bug going around the office, which almost makes it worse.)
Everything worked out fine, I think I spoke to everyone we had to cancel on to get them rescheduled. But I also remember saying that if I had to do anymore rescheduling, I'd want to scream. And boy do I.
The manager of two of the other locations just quit, which isn't official news, but he told my manager, and she told me. I don't blame him - he's been frustrated for a long while, and felt like his concerns weren't being taken seriously.
Honestly, I don't even really hate my job or anything, but it feels like EVERYONE is burned the fuck out. I certainly feel that way, it seems like all the drivers feel that way, the center managers all feel that way... I don't like heading to work each day and wondering what new fire I'll have to spend the day putting out. And even *saying* that makes me feel like I'm jinxing it and am going to soon long for the days when it was just emergency reschedules and rude people and indifferent upper management.
