So, we were able to shuffle things around on the schedule and get it so that for tomorrow (the day I'm more worried about for work), work friend has a gap of two hours in her schedule for the afternoon where she can help me with grading tests.
That is definitely a relief, as it's one of the more time-consuming things, because she can also help go over results with students if I get busy. She'll be out on a lesson by the time it can be entered into the state system, but that's okay. It's a promise of having at least some backup for the in-person part of the day that's likely to be a struggle.

BUT.

This afternoon, my manager noticed a weird glitch happening on student profiles - all previous appointments (tens or hundreds of thousands of them) that happened in the past are no longer marked as complete... but also have a completion date listed of 11/15/2021, regardless of when the appointment happened.

She reported it to the co-owner who takes care of the tech stuff. She was initially dismissive and then saw the issue.

They declined to report it to everyone else, because they thought it would be a small fix.

I notice a few other glitchy things - all written tests are now listed as having happened in Denver. The system now requires you to manually create a password for new accounts instead of providing a randomly generated one.

Finally they send out a notice about the glitch... and tell everyone to physically write down all appointments we schedule in case the system isn't saving them. (I think it's actually because they're afraid they'll have to roll the server back.)

Some time after I leave, 6:30 or so, I get a message from the head of the online program... That maybe I'm aware of it (I wasn't) but "in an unexpected turn of events" OUR DATABASE SYSTEMS HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN. (I don't know the details - this could just be our internal student and schedule database, but almost certainly includes our online class system, but I have no idea about the front end, or the internal/automated email systems, or anything else.) As such, if it's not fixed by morning, we'll probably get A LOT of calls tomorrow for online support and for customer care!

Fucking. Yay.

(To be fair, she was letting me know that she plans to help with support calls if this is still an issue, so I'm grateful for that.)

But... fuck. The day I was already stressed enough about to wake up worried in the middle of the night is ALSO happening while we have the biggest system issue that we've ever had, as far as I'm aware. One that may have hosed parts of the database going back years, and that could be impacting our thousands of active students in ways likely to cause frustration and concern and questions... all of which I'm supposed to be solely responsible for for the next couple of days.

Cool.

Alex wants to go to the corn maze tomorrow, and I very much want to go, but also feel like I'm going to want to curl up in a ball and cry.

I'm only about halfway through outlining my NaNo project, and that is RAPIDLY approaching. But I have a severe case of "fuckeverythingitis" and I just don't want to do anything.
