Mar. 9th, 2022 10:16 pmI did manage to get my LJ ported over, though the attempt to port the comments failed. I had it try to port a second time, and the entries failed as well on that attempt. The queue is also basically empty at this point, so it seems like it's probably the broad "LJ refuses to speak to DW" issue striking again. Guess I snuck in at the right time last night! Maybe I'll try it again in the future if possible, but for now I'm happy with the entries alone (even if losing the interactions from the comments is a bit sad.)
I read through a few of my old entries and oof was I a cringey embarrassing angsty teen, lmao.
Even so, it's a relief to have it preserved. LJ was really important to me when I was younger, and knowing that I have it backed up to a service that feels quite a bit more secure (in terms of not disappearing due to the whims of a controlling company or country) feels good. I'd been meaning to do that for a long while, and just never did it... so I'm glad it's done.
(Skimming some old posts also reminded me of some things I'd forgotten... like the time period in which we really did just have one shared family computer, and me lamenting my inability to work on a fic, because other people needed the computer. And I'd forgotten that I had friends who didn't have *any* steady computer access. There's an entry about me typing up fics and poems and things that friends had written. I had remembered how I used to print fics off of ff.net to share around when I thought people would like them, but had forgotten I used to type things up for people too!)
